Changing Perspectives: A Shark Conservation Journey

In just one generation, the story of our student Mesly shows how education and environmental protection can bring about change together. Mesly, who gained her knowledge at Child Aid Papua School, convinced her father – a former shark catcher – that there are more sustainable ways to make a living today.

In the documentary Rewilding Sharks, Mesly powerfully shares her journey and her commitment to shark conservation. Her story is an inspiring example of how education empowers young people to create a better future for themselves and their environment.

A story from our student Mesly

Ocean Warrior

The "Ocean Warrior" project was developed by our school and successfully implemented in several villages in Raja Ampat.
Children and young people in Raja Ampat learn through the "Ocean Warrior" program about the devastating effects of plastic waste on their unique environment – and, most importantly, how they can actively fight against it. With a specially created textbook and hands-on activities like island cleanups, the children not only gain knowledge but also collect waste.

Our proud "Ocean Warriors" are passionately committed to a clean and healthy environment and are recognized and rewarded with small prizes for their efforts. Join this movement: Support our initiative by purchasing a sustainable "Ocean Warrior" T-shirt!

Official Partner of the UNESCO Global Geopark Raja Ampat

The Child Aid Papua School is an official educational partner of the UNESCO Global Geopark Raja Ampat. This cooperation underlines our common goal: to promote a deeper understanding of the unique biodiversity, geodiversity and cultural heritage of Raja Ampat.

Through this partnership, we develop Geopark Heroes - young changemakers who not only better understand their environment, but also grow into committed protectors of their land and seas. Our teaching content is closely linked to Geopark knowledge to empower learners to create awareness for protecting their home and to actively contribute to preserving the unparalleled beauty and diversity of Raja Ampat.

Together we are shaping a new generation of leaders committed to the protection and sustainable development of the UNESCO Global Geopark Raja Ampat – for the future of our planet.
